Throughout our lives we have been greatly inspired by sustainable living: eco friendly dwellings that don't cost the Earth, the vegetarian way, saving our rainforests, and organic gardening. We try to find ways to work with the earth and enhance nature, avoiding as much as we can all that is detrimental to the planet.

Caitlin was inspired by John Seymour's "Self Sufficiency" from a young age. In Wales at the Centre for Alternative Technology she lived and breathed the organic movement and different forms of alternative power.

Animal husbandry has been a prominent feature throughout Caitlin's life so it was no suprise when we bought our farm in NZ that we would be living with a herd of goats, chickens, ducks, horses and so on!

We began building different types of dwellings - having a fascination with many kinds of architecture - and have a tipi, strawbale and a bender so far! Many people come to work, rest and share this sanctuary on the mountain. They hold the vision that it will be a place to relax and retreat for many travelling folk who wish to be inspired by a natural and alternative lifestyle.... a beautiful and peaceful retreat.
