I was lucky to grow up on the Yorkshire moors of England in a farmhouse. I played piano from a young age, having lessons to attain my grades in classical piano until I was 18. I was doubly blessed by having my own pony who I rode each day across the moors and I became inspired by long distance riding. I would go off alone for 2-week treks until eventually, at the age of 18, I rode to Wales where I spent the next 10 years. I discovered communities of people living an alternative lifestyle with like-minded friends and one of my many dreams became being as self-sufficient as possible.
